Punch needle embroidery is a fun and easy twist on the traditional art of rug hooking. Quicker than embroidery and easy to learn, this technique allows you to 'paint with yarn' and play with texture to create a woven design that can then be used as a wall hanging, cushion cover or even a clutch bag.

In this workshop, you will learn how to use the punch needle to create your own woven art. The punch needle pushes the yarn through the cloth creating a unique two sided woven design - one smooth side similar to embroidery and the other side with tightly woven loops or rug pile. Using the Oxford punch needle tool,  you will learn simple rug hooking techniques, tips and tricks and using a variety of yarns make your own woven art. No experience is necessary!

All supplies are provided including an exclusive punch needle take home kit with an #10 Oxford punch needle, a wood frame pre-stretched with monks cloth and various colours of yarn to use in class.

09 February 2019 • Contemporary Punch Needle Embroidery

It was such a lovely 3 hours where Anna took us through the whole punch needle process. All equipment was provided and Anna gave lots of guidance and useful tips so it was easy to continue on at home. A lovely group of participants who chatted, designed and worked on projects in a relaxed atmosphere. A great way to spend a day. Janise
