Contemporary Punch Needle Embroidery
Punch needle embroidery is a fun and easy twist on the traditional art of rug hooking. Quicker than embroidery and easy to learn, this technique allows you to 'paint with yarn' and play with texture to create a woven design that can then be used as a wall hanging, cushion cover or even a clutch bag.
In this workshop, you will learn how to use the punch needle to create your own woven art. The punch needle pushes the yarn through the cloth creating a unique two sided woven design - one smooth side similar to embroidery and the other side with tightly woven loops or rug pile. Using the Oxford punch needle tool, you will learn simple rug hooking techniques, tips and tricks and using a variety of yarns make your own woven art. No experience is necessary!
All supplies are provided including an exclusive punch needle take home kit with an #10 Oxford punch needle, a wood frame pre-stretched with monks cloth and various colours of yarn to use in class.
NOTE - we have two ticket options. The full price includes a take home Oxford needle. A ticket without the needle is for students who have already purchased a needle.
